The Seafood You Should Have on Your Plate

Seafood are a tasty and healthy alternative to meat. This is especially so when they’re prepared fresh. If you’re lucky enough to live near the coast and have access to restaurants that prepare seafood well, here are some choice pieces that you should try to have a taste of:

  • Salmon. There’s nothing like wild salmon to wake up your taste buds. Seeing the meaty, pink flesh of a freshly-caught salmon on your plate should make your mouth water; the pleasant aroma it exudes doesn’t hurt, either. Full of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D, this is a healthy dish that can be prepared in various ways, though nothing beats having it grilled.
  • Halibut. The firm white flesh of a Wild Alaskan Halibut makes it versatile in the way it can be served; Fillets of halibut, stuffed with herbs and spices, can be steamed or even grilled; the filets can also be cooked in Marsala wine with shallots, making for a spectacular and delicious Italian seafood dish. The taste can satisfy even the fussiest of diners, while the health benefits are great; a serving of halibut can meet your day’s requirement of omega-3 and have low overall fat.
  • Alaskan King Crab. Fish may be the mainstay of seafood restaurants, but there are other food sourced from the sea. An excellent example is the Alaskan king crab; crab legs are a delicious delicacy, especially when they’re eaten fresh. Excellent sources of lean protein, king crab legs can also boast of being full of omega-3 fatty acids as well as vitamins C and B12.
